Once you've chosen your driving package, you're ready to schedule a behind the wheel lesson with one of our many male and female instructors. You can use our online scheduling system to request a time that's convenient for you, or call us at (800) 728-1048 and work with a scheduler to select a date and time for your lesson.
We will send you email confirmation when you book your lessons and will also call you a day or two before your lesson to remind you of your appointment.
One of our highly trained, background-checked instructors will pick you up from home or school at a time that works for you. We have lessons 7 days a week, from 7am in the morning to 10:30pm at night.
Students enjoy their learning experience because our instructors are patient and friendly. You'll learn a lot as they coach and mentor you through everything from inspecting your vehicle to mastering vehicle control.
Each private lesson is 2-hours long and will focus 100% on you and your needs. After each lesson we will drop you off at home and send a customized progress report detailing your strengths and weaknesses.
After fulfilling all of your driver training requirements (you can review those here), you're ready to head to the DMV and pass the official driving exam to earn your license.

What are the California Driving Lesson Requirements?
The state of California requires teens (between 15 and 18 years old) to take at least 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving lessons with a licensed driving school, such as Drivers Ed Direct.
In addition to the 6 hours required above, teens are required to practice for at least 50 additional hours of supervised in-car training, 10 of which are done at night. The 50 additional hours of supervised training can be fulfilled with a parent or any DMV licensed driving school, such as Drivers Ed Direct.
The state of California has no specific driving lesson requirements for adults over 18, though we recommend that all new drivers take professional driving lessons before applying for their driver's license.

What if I Don't Have a Driving Permit?
The Behind-the-Wheel driving lesson packages offered on this page come with our online drivers education included. After you have completed our online drivers ed class, you can take the written permit test at the DMV and earn your driving permit.
If you would like to start your in-car driving lessons without having your permit yet, we do offer student licenses that allow you to take in-car lessons with our licensed driving instructors.
If you have previously completed drivers ed and already have your permit, then great! You are ready to start practicing behind the wheel with our licensed driving instructors.

What Are Your Driving Lessons Like?
Each driving lesson is 2 hours long and will focus on drivers training skills appropriate for you and your specific situation. Our patient and friendly instructors follow detailed lesson plans, but each lesson plan will be customized to service you and your learning needs.
Your lessons will be taught by the most qualified male or female instructors. Our instructors are knowledgeable, highly skilled, and will coach new drivers with clear communication and positive reinforcement.
Each lesson begins and ends with our front-door service. We will pick you up and drop you off at home, and our instructors will always make themselves available to talk with parents before and/or after each lesson.
All lessons are taught in up-to-date, safely equipped hybrid cars and SUVs with dual-braking systems and GPS tracking. All of our cars are clearly marked with the Drivers Ed Direct logo and student driver decals for added safety.
Finally, we will follow-up each lesson by emailing a thorough progress report that details what skills were practiced, a list of student strengths and weaknesses, as well as practice recommendations.
How Does Payment Work?
Paying for your entire driving lesson package up-front allows you to enjoy a nice discount AND schedule all of your lessons in advance. We accept all major credit cards as well as personal checks.
