405 Freeway in Los Angeles to Close for 53 Hours
The 405 Freeway is already notorious for gridlock, traffic delays, and headaches, but if you think it's bad news today, wait until mid-July for a not so pleasant surprise. For 53 hours between July 16th and 17th, traffic will be an absolute mess as construction crews plan to fully shut down about 10 miles of the 405 near Mulholland Drive. The impending construction is part of what officials say will be a completed carpool network between Orange County and the San Fernando Valley.
The message from the city is clear: stay away from the 405! "If you think it's bad now, let me just make something absolutely clear: On July 16 and 17, it will be an absolute nightmare," said Mayor Antonio Villaraigos.
